Update: January 13th, 2018

It’s been much too long since I have written…
Moreover, written on My Eyes Are Yours. I’ve been writing in my travel journal, just never really got around to post anything.

A lot has happened since the last time I uploaded. Rather than just jumping back to the page I left off at almost three months ago, I thought I’d at least give a preface to the rest and fill you in on where I am now.
In my last post, I was living on South Penquite Farm on Bodmin Moor in the middle of the Cornish countryside. Today, I’m back in Texas. I hate to spoil the rest of the story, but after a few more weeks in England, I flew to Milan where I began teaching English at a tutoring center. I lived there with a very lovely Italian family for about a month until, because it took much longer than expected to obtain an Italian work visa, I was forced to leave Italy and returned to the United States. My plan was to stay in Houston for a few weeks to get the Italian work visa, then return after the New Year. But alas, with appointments and residence permits, it really wouldn’t be possible to return until mid-February. Therefore, I decided it was best to stay here and finish my final year of university. My diploma is one thing tying me down at the moment; I’ve completed three years and I just have one more left. And besides, Italy will always be there. I’m very fortunate for all of the connections I have made. Vittoria, my contact at Carlo Dell’Acqua high school and now good friend, even offered me a position for if I return after graduation. So really, things are looking up.
But of course it’s just an enormous change being back in Texas… I’ve changed so much during this journey. I’ve met so many incredible people that I wish I never had to leave. It’s hard. That’s the hardest part; leaving the people you meet. But I suppose that’s the best part about travel and moreover the best part of life, the souls you meet along the way. It reminds me of the quote that I put on my About page when I first began this blog:

“I am a part of all that I have met.” – Ulysses, Alfred Tennyson

Before I get too deep, I think it’s best to end it there. So here it is, an update to where I am now. I’ll be uploading more from now on as well; I have a lot more journal entries that I’d like to post. Then after, there’s a small project I’d like to work on.

Until then…
