What a wonderful week it’s been in Sussex. We’ve spent the past week with our lovely Workaway hosts, Charmaine and Ian, in their cozy home in Wadhurst. They have a charming cottage in a small village countryside, deep in High Weald Natural Park. Wait, They Speak English Here!

I’m currently sitting on an old, wooden bench in St. James Park. In front of me past a small fence, lush greenery covers the grass leading to a large weeping willow and the pond. The pond is home to many ducks, geese, and swans, who all convene along the banks. Many people are out enjoying the peaceful sunshine. One thing that traveling and meeting people from all over the world has done for me is shown me the importance of language and communication. Out of all the volunteers at the hostel in Genova, I’m the only one who speaks one language fluently.
